How Do I Get A Life?

Question:

I am twenty years old and I suspect I am stressed out.  I have chest pains and feel anxious and easily irritated a lot of the time.  I have many headaches and digestive problems and have been gaining weight recently.  I am always tired but struggle to get to sleep.  I also have a rash on my neck and face.

I have been caring for both my ailing grandparents since I started high school.  As a result I had no activities outside of school, and virtually no social life.  I started college, but had to drop out because my grandparents now require round-the-clock assistance.  I only get out of the house when they have doctor’s appointments.  Their last appointments were 35 days ago.

I cannot count on my mother to help me, because she is spending all her time and energy on getting my three younger siblings back – they were kidnapped by my father and his ex-convict new wife.

I feel that I am struggling more and more to cope, and I am worried that I will die before my life has really started.  I often pray to God to help me, even if it is just to help me relax so that I can get a good night’s sleep, but it feels like things are getting worse rather than better.

What can I do to make my life better?

Everyone Wants Too Much from Me

Question:

I am in a prestigious high school where my parents enrolled me in a program for highly gifted students.  This program is stressing me out completely, because I have no social life and get about four hours per night sleep.

I go home and cry every day because it is just too much for me.  I don’t even go out over weekends, because I have to study.

My parents are divorced.   My dad wants me to qualify for an elite American school but my mom wants me to get into a Japanese school. They cannot even agree over custody of me and I am being pulled in so many directions.

What can I do to deal with the stress?

What Does God Think He Is Doing?

I think of myself as a kind, decent person from a good family.  I was brought up to believe in a God of love and was involved with the church when I was a kid.  My mother is a devout Christian and a beautiful person.

I know many people whom, in my opinion, don't care about God or religion but they seem to have their own way and get whatever they want.  It seems that these people have such an easy life.

About ten years ago this so-called loving God took great pleasure in ripping my family to pieces.  My father contracted a chronic illness which left him an angry, nasty man needing constant care.

My mother became his full-time nurse against her will and had to give up all her freedom.  My dad aims all his frustration at me, and my brother tries in vain to be a peace-maker.

As if that was not enough, God then decided
