Ekadashi is observed on the eleventh day of every fortnight of the Hindu month.

Ekadashi fasting happens over three days.

Devotees take a single meal in the afternoon on the day before to make sure there is no residual food in the stomach on the fasting day.

Devotees keep strict fast on Ekadashi day and break the fast on next day only after sunrise.

They are not allowed to eat any type of grain or cereal during Ekadashi fasting.

Devotees can decide before the start to choose to observe fasting without water, with only water, with only fruits, or with one small meal according to their will and body power.
