Saint Andrew's Day

St. Andrew's Day is the feast of Saint Andrew and is celebrated on the 30th November each year.

Saint Andrew has been the patron saint of Scotland since about the middle of the

tenth century.

St. Andrew's Day is Scotland's official national day, and since 2006 also an official bank holiday or public holiday in Scotland.

St Andrew's Day is also celebrated in Germany, Austria and Poland.  Saint Andrew was an apostle of Christ and the younger brother of Saint Peter.  There are several legends stating that the relics of Andrew were brought under supernatural guidance from Constantinople in Greece to the place where the modern town of St Andrews stands today in Scotland.
