Jewish people publicly read a few chapters of their holy book, the Torah, in synagogue every week.

They start with Genesis 1, and on Simchat Torah they complete Deuteronomy 34. On the same day they start with

Genesis 1 again.

This is to remind them that the Torah is a never-ending circle.  Simchat Torah is celebrated with processions, singing and dancing.
