National Holocaust Memorial Day

This is the international day of remembrance for the victims of the Holocaust and of other genocides.

The date is the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.  In 1933, when the Nazis came to power in Germany, there were over 9 million Jews in Europe.
