Beltane marks the beginning of summer, and is similar to the Welsh Calan Mai and the Germanic Walpurgis Night.

Beltane is an ancient Gaelic festival that is still celebrated in Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man.

Wiccans adopted the name for their

traditional May festival.  The day is the mid-point between the spring equinox and summer solstice.
